Who We Are

Concern for Women and Children (CWC) is a Non-profit, Non-Governmental, Non-Partisan organization founded in 2007 by H.E. Mama Mary Ayen Mayardit, the First Lady of South Sudan. We are dedicated to empowering the most vulnerable in South Sudan through comprehensive programs focused on health, education, economic empowerment, and social justice.

Our Vision

To rescue and empower underprivileged and vulnerable women and youth and support children and other vulnerable persons to safely and securely reach their full potential and create an equitable world.

A future for all women and children of South Sudan which promotes a democratic, non-sexist, non-racist, united, peaceful and prosperous society where women and children can enjoy a full and abundant life enabling them to become active participants in activities which fulfil their potential, hopes, aspirations and ambitions and are able to participate fully in economic, social, cultural, spiritual and political life.

To promote the health and well-being of women, youth, children and other vulnerable persons while empowering children through quality education, and advancing social justice and equality for all.

To work with Partners to create positive societal attitude to reinforce policies that will promote the development of women and children programmes through the adoption and implementation of a holistic and integrated national Policies for women and Children.

We believe that every matured hand must be empowered to generate income and keeps the person fit. We train women, youth and other adult vulnerable persons on how to identify their strengths.

Our History & Impact

Concern for Women and Children was established in 2007 as an initiative of the First Lady of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. Mary Ayen Mayardit with the main aim of empowering women and youth, children and other vulnerable groups.

The Organization is the brainchild of the First Lady and the Mother of the Nation, Republic of South Sudan. Her Excellency the First Lady is the Founder and the Matron to the Organization.

The Founder's passion for the less privileged and most vulnerable in our communities is evidenced in the programmes, projects, and events that the CWC has been involved in up to date.

Concern for Women and Children is legally registered and established as a Non-Profit Organization in South Sudan to address socioeconomic issues and needs of women, children, youth and other vulnerable persons.
