Our Goals & Objectives

At Concern for Women and Children, our comprehensive goals and objectives guide our mission to empower vulnerable populations, promote sustainable development, and build resilient communities across South Sudan.

Our Primary Goals & Objectives

Humanitarian Assistance

  • To provide food, clean water, shelter and medical help to those affected by conflict, displacement, and natural disasters
  • To assist South Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugee from other countries in South Sudan
  • To provide emergency livelihood support to the most vulnerable members of the community
  • Work in collaboration with other organizations for rehabilitation and resettlement of war-affected and displaced people

Health & Well-being

  • To improve access to health care; maternal and child health, disease prevention, and treatment of illness
  • To improve access to quality health services including maternal healthcare, HIV/AIDS care, GBV case management and mental health
  • To promote access to clean and sufficient drinking water as well as sanitation facilities for communities and schools

Peace & Conflict Resolution

  • To facilitate dialogue, mediation, and reconciliation initiatives to address the root causes of conflict and promote peaceful coexistence
  • To strengthen community-based mechanism for conflict prevention and resolution
  • To promote a culture of peace through education and awareness campaigns
  • To promote active participation and leadership by women in local and national level peace processes

Education & Empowerment

  • To improve quality education for children and youth particularly those affected by conflict and displacement
  • To promote the alleviation of illiteracy especially among women and school-age girls and adolescent youth
  • To provide training and resources to enhance livelihoods; agriculture, vocational skills and small business development
  • To support the women farmers with technical skills on modern farming techniques

Gender Equality & Women's Empowerment

  • To address gender inequalities that lead to marginalization of women and girls by initiating empowerment programs
  • To promote gender equality and women's empowerment in all aspects of developments
  • To advocate for gender equality, participation of women, attainment of the constitutionally-provided gender rule in government
  • To promote women and children's rights, provide protection and social welfare advocacy

Community Development & Infrastructure

  • To promote sustainable natural resource management and environmental conservation
  • To support the development of basic infrastructure, such as roads, schools, markets, health facilities
  • To ensure the communities are actively involved in designing and implementation of development programmes
  • To promote South Sudanese local ownership and leadership in development initiatives

Our Geographical Reach

Concern for Women and Children is a national nongovernmental organization with activities spread across all the 10 states of South Sudan and Abyei Administrative, Ruweng and Greater Pibor Administrative Areas.

In recognition of the important and expanding role the organization plays, plans are underway to set up permanent offices in each of these states as well as the administrative areas.

Concern for Women and Children headquarters are based in Juba along Hai Amarat Road next to Home and Away Hotel.
